Football analyst and former coach Farouk Khan insists there is much still to play for in the DStv Premiership even though the race for the title may be over as a contest.

Mamelodi Sundowns stretched their lead at the top of the standings to a mammoth 20 points on their assault on yet another title with a 5-1 win over Royal AM on Tuesday.

However, Khan insists that there is still a lot to expect in this campaign.

"Yes no one will come close to Sundowns, but the league is not finished," Khan tells KickOff.

"The winners of the league have already been decided, but there is still a lot to look forward to.

"It still has to decide who will join Sundowns in the CAF Champions League, there is still the relegation battle and the fight for the top eight.

"Nobody is still guaranteed a top-eight finish, including SuperSport, Pirates and Chiefs. They still must fight for it.

"It takes two or the games for you to go to relegation and takes three games for you to go from relegation to the top eight. So easy. The point difference is very close.

"So as a footballer lover, I would be stuck to my team and be very curious to find out how things are going to turn out.

"SuperSport they are five points clear of Pirates, and in the short time, Gavin Hunt has done extremely well in turning the team around.

"But let's say they lose a game SuperSport and Chiefs and Pirates win one game each, the gap will be two points. But as things stand SuperSport will finish number two.

"At the bottom, Marumo Gallants are holding up the table, but it's only one point that is separating them and the team above them Maritzburg United. Swallows are only four points away from Gallants.

"But for now Marumo Gallants are the candidates to go down.

"From position 12 to 16 they are all involved in a relegation battle."
