Ernst Middendorp is facing German troubles just a week after arriving back home.

The bells of worries have rung loud for Ernst Middendorp following a depressing home defeat in the first game played in front of SV Meppen’s home crowd.

After what was an encouraging 2-2 away at German third division log leaders SV 07 Elversberg, Middendorp found himself with a sad face at home when his team was downed 3-1 by SC Verl 1924.

It was a defeat that leaves SCM stuck in the relegation waters, second from bottom and four points from safety having played one more game than their rivals in the mud.

They had to play with 10-men for over half an hour after German-Nigerian Samuel Aabifade was sent off with 12 minutes of coming on from the bench.

SVM have 21 points with the safety net at 25.

The busy German third division schedule takes SVM to Viktoria Koln in the next fixture on Friday and then play FC Erzgebirge AUE and SPVGG Bayreuth before the end of the month.

They will then play another eight matches in April and May.

Of note is the fact that Middendorp will be in charge of his third match in German on Friday when Swallows play their first match since he dumped them in favour of a move to the ninth German club that he has taken charge of in his coaching career.

The Birds – who have chosen to neither make mention of Middendorp nor his successor – play Golden Arrows on Friday night at Dobsonville Stadium.

Swallows are not safe from relegation with eight games remaining.
