The 25-year-old superstar caused panic on Wednesday, 2 August, when he posted about a car accident on Facebook, leaving many worried fans to think he’d been injured.
But the Uyoncengwa Unyoko hitmaker, whose real name is Lethukuthula Mhlongo from uMnambithi in KZN, has clarified that the accident happened on 30 July, not on the day he posted about it.
“I was involved in a car accident on 30 July and kept it a secret. But on Wednesday, I felt like updating my fans about the incident.
“After I noticed people were misunderstanding my update and my cellphone was flooded with calls, I decided to delete the post. But it was too late,” Umafikizolo told Daily Sun.

The confusion spread like wildfire, with fans who didn’t read the post thinking the accident had just happened.

After the panic, the star – who recently made history by winning the hotly contested Ukhozi FM Song of the Year, and scooped awards at both the Metro FM Music Awards and the South African Music Awards – deleted his Facebook post without an explanation.
DREAM CAR DESTROYED
While Umafikizolo escaped unharmed, his beloved Toyota Fortuner wasn’t so lucky.
“The Toyota Fortuner was my dream car. I worked hard to own it, and it was still new.
“Now that it’s been involved in an accident and is beyond repair, I’ll work hard again to buy another one.”
But the resilient musician remains positive.
“Because I was unharmed and able to work, I’ll work harder to have it back,” he said.
MESSAGE TO FANS
Umafikizolo had a message for his supporters: “I’d like to ask my fans to stay calm and read my updates properly when I post. My aim was not to shock them – it was to give them an update that I was involved in a car accident and that I’m unharmed.”
The maskandi star, who has dominated the music scene with chart-topping hits, said he’s grateful to be alive and ready to get back to making music for his loyal fans.
