Singer Innocent Modiba will be buried this coming Thursday.

THE funeral arrangements for singer Innocent Modiba are underway.

His aunt, Lydia Modiba, told Daily Sun that the funeral will take place on Thursday, 9 March in Pimville, Soweto.

“We haven't planned any memorial service but if anything changes, we will inform the public about the exact location," said Lydia.

"As the family, we're still shocked by his passing. Last year he fell sick, but recovered. Last week he was in good health, but what we didn't know was that his days were numbered," she said.

She told Daily Sun that they have received enormous support.

"I've been welcoming a lot of his friends and his colleagues, especially from Family Factory and Joyous Celebration. This is comforting to us as his family. It also proves that he was well mannered and represented our family well," said Lydia.

On Friday, 3 March his close friend, Buyani Khoza, said  Innocent died of epileptic seizure.

“I received a call from his mother on Wednesday morning. From what I am told he was  alone. Apparently, he was trying to make some tea for himself and he had a seizure,” Buyani said at the time.

“I last saw him on Sunday. At that time he was perfectly fine and we were planning to meet on Monday. But that didn’t happen because I couldn’t reach him on his phone.

“On Tuesday he sent me a text message and told me he was not well. So, I was planning to go see him on Wednesday but time was not on my side."
