Max Lichaba said his church will open its doors in two months' time.

SOPHIE Ndaba's ex husband, Max Lichaba is opening a church.

Many people were shocked to hear that the owner of popular pub and grill, Kwa Lichaba Chesa Nyama, will now be a man of God.

But Max said he was ordained to be a pastor at the age of 22.

The businessman told Daily Sun that he’s been preaching from a young age and he has known he’s called to be a pastor, regardless of the businesses he went into.

“I was saved at the age of 12 and I was ordained to be a pastor at the age of 22. I have been a churchgoer. I was brought up by pastors and I'm the third generation in my family," the controversial businessman said.

Max said his mkhulu and his mother were pastors.

"I used to preach on the streets while growing up,” he said.

Max said he has never touched alcohol despite owning a pub and grill. He also said his failed marriages brought him closer to God.

“I have been in various businesses such as jewellery, diamonds, mining, and the Kwa Lichaba Chesa Nyama brand is one of them. Regardless of the alcohol business I owned, I never consumed any alcohol and I have always been a believer.

“Also, with all the challenges of my past struggles and failed marriages brought me closer to God,” he said.

He said his church will open its doors in two months' time.

“My ministry will be called Nations of Hope Ministries. The church will be in the East Rand,” he said.

Max said Kwa Lichaba would continue to operate without him.

“Kwa Lichaba will continue to operate without my involvement as it is a family business. It employs more than 30 family members and they are capable of running it. They have been doing that for long time,” he said.
