POPULAR soapie Uzalo is continuing to show cast members the door.

And this time it’s Ronald Mkwanazi (64) from Katlehong, Ekurhuleni. He follows Nompilo Maphumulo and Menzi Biyela.

A source said this came as a shock for the madala.

“Producers felt that he was not adding influence on the number of viewers as he was unpopular. They decided to write his character off.

“This shocked him and you could see the hurt in his eyes,” said the source.

Ronald joined Uzalo alongside Thembi Nyandeni (Njinji), Siyabonga Radebe (Vika) and Omuhle Gela (Nomaswazi) last year. Omuhle later dumped the show over changes in her contract.

Ronald was unemployed when he joined the show. He struggled to get a job when he came back from overseas, where he spent more than 20 years. Another source said viewers would see him for the last time at the end of the month.

“His role (Nsimbi) will die and the Magwaza family will be devastated. This means he will never come back. This job is really unreliable.

“Today you have a job and tomorrow you are unemployed,” said the source.

Ronald confirmed that he was leaving.

Uzalo gave me a job when I was unemployed. I’m grateful for the opportunity and there are no hard feelings. It was time to leave.”

Uzalo spokeswoman Nomfundo Zondi said they would communicate with viewers if there were any changes.
