SHE won people’s hearts with her “voetsek” introductory video last month.

Now, Real Housewives of Gqeberha (RHOGQ) star Norma Nicol has told Daily Sun about the story behind her iconic introduction.

Norma, who’s a wife and mum from Gqeberha, said it was not a big deal like Mzansi was making it to be. It was just for fun.

“It was just a promo video. I grew fond of a lady on the show, and I always say voetsek to her. I’m so comfortable with her, I only say it to her. I’ve never said it to the other ladies. So, don’t make it a big thing, everyone has said voetsek before,” she said.

“Don’t make me a bad person. It just means ‘go away’. Don’t make it a thing,” she continued.

People had already presumed that she was the troublemaker of the show because of the introduction video, but she said she doesn’t care.

“I’ve always been a person that doesn’t care what other people think of me. What other people think of me is their business. I know who I am. I’ve never been worried about what others think of me, as long as I know who I am. The media can’t define me, the public can’t as well,” she said.

Norma said this opportunity had already opened doors for her. She couldn’t wait to see what more would come from it.

“Whatever comes off this, I’ll weigh it and see if it’s something I’m looking for. When I partook in this, I didn’t think beyond it. I just thought I’d do it. But there are so many opportunities that are coming to my doorstep already,” said Norma.

She said she was ready to hear and see what the public would say about her but wasn’t nervous.

“I am ready for the public scrutiny. I was born ready. I am not shaken at all. As long as you know who you are,” she said.

The show started on Friday, 3 February and it left a lukewarm response from the viewers. However, most viewers said they were willing to give it a chance because it had some potential to be great.
