
A 16-YEAR-OLD girl has been shot and killed during a cash heist.
The incident took place at Elim Mall in Limpopo on Monday, 8 May at about 10am when an unknown number of gunmen robbed security guards of an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to the information, security guards from a cash-in-transit company were collecting money at one of the local stores at the mall and they were ambushed by unknown armed suspects who opened fire on them and robbed them of cash.
The suspects then got away in a white Toyota Hilux Supercab.
Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said during the robbery, the guards retaliated and a shoot-out ensued.
"In the process, a 16-year-old girl and a 26-year-old old man were shot and seriously injured. They were taken to hospital where the 16-year-old succumbed to her injuries," he said.

Ledwaba said the police in Waterval, Vhembe district have launched a massive manhunt for the unknown number of armed robbers who robbed security guards.
"Anyone with information that can assist the police in arresting the suspects should contact Waterval Detective Commander Captain Mabunda on 082 565 7901 or CrimeStop on 08600 10111, or call their nearest police station. Police investigations are continuing," he said.
Acting provincial police commissioner, Major-General Jan Scheepers, has ordered a massive manhunt for the suspects.
