A 33-YEAR-OLD repeat offender was arrested on Friday, 24 March.

According to Sergeant Timothy Sam, the Northern Cape organised crime unit assisted by the Kimberley K9 Unit and crime intelligence acted on information regarding alleged illegal drugs in transit along the N12 National Road near Kimberley.

"The team operationalised the information, monitored the identified vehicle and on arrival the driver stopped and ran into the veld.

"The suspect was later apprehended at the offices of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in Kimberley, while signing in for bail conditions on a different case," said Sam.

He said the team confiscated the vehicle used in the commission of the crime and seized a large amount of Mandrax tablets and suspected tik.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrates Court soon on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Police are investigating a case of dealing in drugs.

"Drug trafficking remains a serious concern affecting most of our communities in the province. The police will strengthen their efforts in combatting this evil," said Sam.
