THE Mangaung Metro tactical response team arrested three suspects on Thursday, 2 February, for possession of counterfeit money and dealing in diamonds in Phahameng in Bloemfontein, Free State.
Lieutenant-Colonel Thabo Covane said cops arrived at the given location, spotted the mentioned vehicle with three occupants and conducted a search.
“The police found counterfeit bank notes hidden inside the car. They also found two stones, identifiable as precious metals – diamonds. The three suspects were arrested for alleged possession of counterfeit money and dealing in diamonds,” Covane said in a statement.
He added that the notes amounted to about R83 000 and that the suspects, aged 29, 31 and 79, would appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court soon.
