ANGRY residents from Thulamahashe kasi and surrounding areas took to the streets on Tuesday, 11 April, to deliver a memorandum to the Mpumalanga police commissioner Lieutenant- General Semakaleng Manamela.
The residents demanded the removal of Mhala police boss, Colonel Mary Ngomane with immediate effect.

Leading the protest were ANC branch secretary Wonderboy Masinga, ANC regional working committee and regional executive member Million Makaringe, ANCYL Caleb Makhubele and Hluvukani branch secretary Skhumbuzo Ndlovu.
"The station commander must be removed as matter of urgency. She failed to meet the Mhala Community Forum. The station is no longer operating 24 hours. The satellite police stations are dilapidated. We demand that three satellite police stations be reopened to full functionality and well equipped.
“There is a lack of visibility of police in the communities of Hluvukani areas, even in the two Thulamahashe shopping centres," said Ndlovu.
Makaringe said: "This magogo station commander is very old and can no longer run this station. The Community Policing Forums are all dead and should be re-established in all villages, and their role should be reconsidered. Finally, police officials should leave the politics to the politicians.”
The accused police boss, Colonel Mary Ngomane, received the protesters' memorandum herself, but refused to comment to the protesters and the Daily Sun team.
