SUPERSPORT United will be looking for redemption when they travel to Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday for their DStv Premiership clash against Royal AM.
Matsatsantsa a Pitori suffered the most embarrassing defeat in their history after being knocked out of the Nedbank Cup Last 32 stage by third-tier side Dondol Stars last Wednesday.
The defeat was embarrassing to a point that the club CEO, Stan Mathews, revealed during a radio interview how gutted the board were and how upsetting it was to lose that game.
But despite the humiliating loss, Matsatsantsa are still on the right path towards attaining their objectives, which is to finish in the top four teams in the league, and possibly qualify for one of the Caf tournaments.
United are second with 32 points from 19 games, 13 points behind log leaders and rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. They are one point ahead of third placed Richards Bay, and three points ahead of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, who are fourth and fifth respectively but level on 28 points.
For Matsatsantsa to achieve their objectives, captain Onismor Bhasera reckons they’ll have to bounce back to winning ways by taking maximum points against Thwihli Thwahla on Saturday, which will give them a confidence boost.
“We spoke as a team and we are aware that we have let the fans, the board, and ourselves down last week.
“But now we have to focus on the next game, which is going to be important for us in the remainder of the season,” said the veteran skipper.
“We have been doing well in the league and we find ourselves in a good position.”
