Amapiano artist Tebogo G Mashego has gone viral after a video surfaced online showing him being dragged into a police van following a public outburst.
The 23-year-old artist, who hails from west Tshwane, has been the subject of concern after a series of disturbing social media rants shortly after his return from Nigeria.
For several days, he went live on social media, swearing at everyone and anyone, sparking alarm amongst fans and followers.
According to the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster, Tebogo was not arrested, but was removed by Laudium police for public safety after allegedly displaying violent and abnormal behaviour in a public setting.
In response to the viral video, Daily Sun reached out to Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, who confirmed police involvement in an incident that occurred on Heritage Day, Wednesday, 24 September.
"The suspect was reportedly violent and assaulting people for no reason. Hence, the police had to force him inside a police bakkie and was transferred to a local hospital for medical evaluation. One of the assaulted victims has since opened a case of common assault against him. Police investigations on this matter are under way," she said.
