GQOM queen Babes Wodumo breaks down.

The singer broke down in tears when her late husband, Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo was remembered.

Mampintsha, who was a member of Big NUZ, died in December 2022.

During her performance at the 10th annual INK-KASI Xperience at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, north of Durban on Sunday, 15 December, Babes told fans she misses Mampintsha and won't have a good Christmas as he died the day before Christmas.

She asked fans to pray for her.

"Mampintsha died on 24 December, and I can't enjoy Christmas on 25 December. Please pray for me and give me love," she said.

After her performance, event organiser Philani "Splash" Ngwenya surprised her with a portrait of Mampintsha and some of his songs were played.

Babes, whose real name is Bongekile Simelane, couldn't hold back her tears.

Splash said he paid tribute to Mampintsha as he encouraged him to have the event in KwaMashu 10 years ago.

"We have this biggest event here because of Mampintsha. He is the one who said the event must happen in KwaMashu. I realised that we should remember him, and we decided to surprise Babes Wodumo," he said.
