RENOWNED dancer and choreographer Vincent Sekwati Mantsoe (54) will captivate audiences with Desert Poems.
The solo dance production, which explores resilience, survival, and the beauty of nature, is highly anticipated and will take place on 11 and 12 April 2025 at the Keorapetse William Kgosietsile Theatre, located at the UJ Arts Centre in Auckland Park, Joburg.
The Soweto-born entertainer has choreographed original pieces for Desert Poems.
This work features additional music by Dizu Plaatjiis' Ibuyanmo Ensemble.
The production reflects the harsh yet mesmerising essence of the desert, capturing its intense heat, shifting sands, and endless silence of the night sky.
"As I create more solo dance works, I increasingly find myself exploring uncharted territory," said Vincent.
"I believe a guiding force has led me to this point, preceding Desert Poems and other solo pieces, which uniquely connect nature, spirituality, and a certain degree of uncertainty."

This performance is also a heartfelt homecoming.
"I'm thrilled to return home and deeply grateful to the University of Joburg Arts & Culture for their invaluable partnership in hosting this world premiere.
"I also acknowledge unseen forces that guide my spiritual journey - without them, this work would not have been possible," he said.
UJ Arts & Culture is committed to supporting and revitalising the Joburg dance scene.
Pieter Jacobs, head of UJ Arts & Culture, emphasised the importance of fostering local talent and reconnecting audiences with world-class dance performances.
"Active engagement and audience building is essential for the dance and theatre sector to flourish in South Africa.
"This city has long been a hub for world-class dance, and it is important to celebrate and nurture that legacy," said Pieter.
As UJ marks its 20th anniversary, the institution is excited to host Vincent's production as part of its commitment to showcasing innovative performances.
"Creating access for South Africans to experience new and innovative work is central to our mission," he said.
Desert Poems promises to be an unforgettable experience, blending movement, music, and storytelling in a way only Vincent can deliver.
