TOP actress Asavela Mqokiyana bounces back after giving birth.
The 29-year-old actress from Mount Frere, Eastern Cape, has landed a top role in Uzalo after she disappeared for a year.
Asavela, who made her name in Isibaya and Abomama, last appeared on e.tv's Durban Gen in 2023 before she vanished to give birth in the same year.
She said her child has grown enough and she's ready to face the world and deliver her acting best again.
Asavela said after giving birth she had to make sure she gets her shape back to make sure she's not only mentally but physically ready.
She told Daily Sun although she was born in the Eastern Cape, she grew up in Lamontville, south of Durban.
The actress said it always feels good to be back in Durban where she grew up as Uzalo is based in Durban and Durban Gen was also based in Durban.

"I'm happy to join Uzalo and work with top actors I look up to. It is always such a humbling moment because we are growing in this industry.
"Every time you work with people whom you normally watch, it is refreshing and I'm grateful to Stained Glass for listening to people who asked them to give me a chance.
"I grew up in Lamontville and it is always good working from home and always inspiring to be closer to the place where I grew up in, and it will also inspire many people from Lamont who saw me growing there to know that anything is possible," she said.
In Uzalo, Asavela plays the humble nurse, Sizakele. But she said people can expect more.
"There is a lot to unfold, yes she appears humble now but there is a lot coming, and viewers must stay tuned."
