ARTIST thanks his lucky stars after horror crash.
Producer, Afro-soul and amapiano artist Malungelo Nyawo is grateful to God for saving his life.
Affectionately known as Mr Malungelo Sir, the 38-year-old star said he dodged death when he was involved in a serious accident on Saturday, 16 May 2026.
He said the accident left him with broken legs, arms, ribs and injuries to his back.
Malungelo, who has collaborated with the likes of DJ Tira, the Qwabe Twins, Xowla, Big Zulu and Azana, said he was on his way home from work in the Free State when a speeding VW Polo hit his white Range Rover Defender.
"I don't know how I'm still alive. It's all God's work," said Malungelo.
ICU battle
He said after the Polo hit his car he was told he passed out for about 20 minutes before being rushed to hospital.
He said his car's collision safety features detected the crash and stopped the vehicle.

"This Polo hit my car when it had stopped. I collapsed for about 20 minutes and was rushed to hospital. That's when I was told parts of my ribs were broken, my legs and arms were also broken. Even my back was affected. I was then taken to theatre for an operation," said Malungelo.
He said complications set in after the operation and he struggled to breathe.
He was then rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he stayed for over two weeks.
Recovery continues
Malungelo said he's now recovering at home but still can't walk unaided and sometimes experiences breathing difficulties.
"I'm currently using a wheelchair to get around. Sometimes, I can't breathe, which forces me to use an oxygen tank. But I'll always thank God for giving me another chance. I don't know how I survived. My fans must relax. I'm getting better. I believe one day I'll be able to walk on my own," he said.
The artist, who has been in the music industry since 2007, is the founder of SneTech Media, launched in 2021. He also owns Circle Rail, a mining and engineering company employing more than 300 people.
He credited industry legends DJ Cleo, Oskido and DJ Tira for mentoring him throughout his career.
Despite his injuries, Malungelo revealed that he's continued recording music.
"I'm planning to release a three-step song called Sidinga Imali on 26 June," he said.
