Her resilience shines as she embraces a new chapter in her career.

Making her big return to the music scene, the 31-year-old musician from Lamontville, west of Durban, is set to release her first album since her husband's passing.

Her long-awaited 10-track album, Mabheshingo, drops on Friday, 17 October.

As a preview, she released three singles on Friday, 3 October.

Babes, whose real name is Bongenkile Simelane Maphumulo, dedicates the album to her late hubby and to Mzansi.

Mampintsha, also known as Shimora, was a popular gqom and kwaito star and a member of the multi-award-winning trio Big Nuz.

He passed away in December 2022, after losing his battle with a stroke.

Babes and Mampintsha were a celebrity couple, often collaborating on songs under Mampintsha's record label, Westink. The two wed in 2020.

Honouring her husband's legacy, she features two of Mampintsha's unreleased songs on her new album.

The Wololo hitmaker remains dedicated to her late hubby and grateful to Mzansi for the support through tough times.

"I took time to reflect on life's events that happened in my life. I appreciate the love I have been getting from people who appreciate my talent and music.

"They also showed me love during the difficult times of losing my husband, Mampintsha. The new work is dedicated to him, the people of South Africa and the world. Thank you for the love and the support," she said.

Her new album will be released by her record label Wena Wodumo, in partnership with Gallo Records.

Babes Wodumo's last studio album Idandokazi came out in 2020 when Mampintsha was still alive.
