King SA is ready to drop his new single.

RAPPER King SA from Kuruman, Northern Cape, was inspired by late rapper ProKid and kwaito star Zola 7 to pursue a career in music.

The 32-year-old shared with SunBuzz that when he started making music, he discovered he was capable of doing various things in the entertainment space.

“I started making music in 2003, and that’s when I realised I can do everything that involves music – be it writing, poetry or rhyming,” he said.

The rapper grew up listening to ProKid and Zola 7, which taught him that one could make it no matter what.

“They showed us you can make it anywhere, despite your background,” said King SA, whose real name is Phenyo Louw. King SA released his first single in 2019, followed by an EP last year.

His EP has been making waves, though he did not expect that.

“My first single was titled Free Your Mind, which I released in 2019. Then last year I released my EP, titled The First Footprint, which surprisingly is doing quite well as I was nominated for the City Awards in Joburg for the Best Newcomer last year,” he said.

He said he felt loved and appreciated.

“To show that my EP was doing great, I got nominated for the second time again last year for the Mzansi Art and Media Awards that took place last year, and I won the award for the Best Hip-Hop Artist,” he said.

King SA said in future, he would like to work with K.O and Cassper Nyovest.

And, he will be dropping a single on Friday, titled Tabatsaka.

“It was produced by Mts Beatz and Asteristar Beats, and it will be available on digital music platforms,” he said.
