Presley first captured the world's attention as a 20-year-old in Tsotsi, which won the 2006 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
His portrayal of a young gangster in Joburg grappling with redemption stunned international audiences and critics alike.

Award-winning filmmaker Gavin Hood, who directed Tsotsi, reflected on his bond with Presley during the memorial service at the State Theatre.
Gavin said he hadn't known Presley before casting him in the film but was immediately struck by the then young actor's raw and natural talent.

"Presley understood how to move through a scene. He didn't just act, he let emotion exist naturally. His raw talent was humble, real and truthful.
"He never tried to perform through the camera. He simply allowed us to see what he wanted us to feel. That's what made him unforgettable," said Gavin.
Presley remained rooted in Mzansi, committed to telling stories that resonated with its people from performing Shakespearean theatre classics to co-writing the acclaimed play Relativity and directing the award-winning Cell No. 4.

His most beloved recent role was Thuso "Cobra" Mokoena in The River, a performance that earned him two SAFTAs for Best Actor in a Telenovela.
Cobrizi, a spin-off of The River, allowed Presley to step into new creative territory as both star and executive producer. The series, full of grit, hope and humanity, was a testament to his vision and storytelling spirit.
Presley will be buried in Tshwane on Saturday, 7 June.
