Metro FM has issued a warning about a fraudulent event called Metro FM Movement.

SCAMMERS at it again.

METRO FM has issued an urgent and a stern warning to its listeners about fraudsters trying to cash in on the station's good name with a fake event.

In Mzansi, there are events hosted almost every weekend. That has become a golden opportunity for crooks to make money by scamming eventgoers who just want to have a good time.

The popular radio station was forced to speak out after discovering that an event dubbed the METRO FM Movement was being advertised in one of Mzansi's websites that sells event tickets, fooling fans into thinking it was legit.

However, METRO FM has made it crystal clear - they have nothing to do with this dodgy event.

Check before you pay

The station has urged listeners to be extra careful and always double-check event information through official platforms before parting with their hard-earned cash.

In a strongly worded press statement, the station pulled no punches about the scam.

"METRO FM has become aware of an event currently listed on Computicket that is impersonating the METRO FM Love Movement," they said.

The station didn't mince words and warned the public to stay vigilant.

"Please, be advised that this event is fraudulent and not associated with METRO FM in any way. METRO FM is not hosting a Love Movement event in Cape Town. The public is urged to remain vigilant and verify events through METRO FM's official platforms before purchasing tickets," read the warning.

Wake-up call

This serves as a wake-up call for all partygoers across the country.

With so many weekend events happening in Mzansi, it's become easier for scammers to create fake events and disappear with people's money.

The lesson here is simple: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Always check official social media pages, websites and contact details of any brand or radio station before buying tickets.

Don't let these crooks ruin your weekend plans or empty your wallet.

METRO FM's warning should be taken seriously - verify first, party later.
