THIS legendary actress puts youth first.
Gogo Gladys Mahlangu, known for her roles in Jerusalem and Ubambo Lwami, has shared some great words for young people.
The 84-year-old actress from Lombardy West, north of Joburg, feels that today's youth should know the direction they want to take in life.
Speaking to Daily Sun, she said it's important for young people to always seek guidance from those with life experience.
"To the youth, I say, have confidence in yourself. You can't achieve anything without believing in your own abilities. Whatever you do, approach it with confidence and genuine interest. Be proud of what you accomplish on your own. And remember to ask for forgiveness when you've made mistakes," she said.
When addressing the importance of heritage and culture, the actress encouraged young people to do things for purpose, not just appearances.
"Preserving our culture is not about fashion. It's about knowing who you are and where you come from. Charity begins at home, and whatever you do will always follow you. Elders who have taught you have shown you the right way, and that truth shall set you free," she said.

She stressed the importance of respecting other people's cultures and traditions.
"We must learn about all our cultures to understand why people act the way they do. There's something to be learnt from every culture. It's very dangerous to condemn a group. We need to come together, honour one another, and work as one. Respect is what's going to carry us through. Nobody is better than anyone else." she said.
Gogo Gladys recalled how she got into acting.
Before her career in film, she worked at Greatermans in Joburg alongside renowned actress Lillian Dube.
One day, when they heard about auditions, mme Lillian suggested they attend together, an experience that set her on her path in the entertainment industry.
She played the role of Mama Kunene in the 2008 film Jerusalem, and the character of Mazondi in the 1989 series Ubambo Lwami.
Her message is one that encourages the youth to remember home, embrace diversity, and strive for self-improvement at all times.
