EBERNITY Mahumani went from pillar to post campaigning for herself, proving that relentless hard work always finds its reward.

The 30-year-old makoti from Nkomo C in Giyani, Limpopo, came out victorious and won the Mzansi Bride of the Year 2025 competition.

The SunTeam visited her all the way in Giyani, and we found her support structure - family, friends and even family friends - in waiting.

The winner said she wouldn't have achieved her victory if it weren't for the support of her family.

They also helped her campaign, which is what helped her get the much-needed votes.

"When I told my mum I entered the competition, she said, ‘I see you winning'. So, we started campaigning from the very first day I was told I was in the Top 12. We were campaigning everywhere. I even DMed Bishop Makamu to ask that he posts about me. I really wanted to win," she said.

"My brother owns an institution, and there were graduations weeks back. I went from class to class asking for votes. I went to the clinics and schools. Also, every morning, my sister would wake me up very early, telling me to go campaign. That's how I won this competition."

Ebernity said she hoped the competition would change her and her husband's lives.

"When we got married, we were both not working, and I thought entering this competition and winning it would be our way of starting afresh," she said.

Her family and in-laws didn't only play a huge role in her winning but also played a big role in her getting her husband.

"I met him once after I had come back from the shops to buy stock. I couldn't carry the things I bought and saw a guy I know walking with my husband, and I asked them to help me carry the things. Some time passed, and his sister approached me and told me her brother was interested in me. She said he was scared of women hence she was talking to me.

"That's how I met him. I finally met him at the groove one day, and I went to him to ask if he could maintain me because I wanted money. He asked how much I wanted, and I said, ‘R2 500', and he said, ‘That's nothing', and I was impressed. I got money after our first meet-up, but I stopped wanting money because I fell in love with him," said Ebernity.
