By entering the competition, some brides just wanted to celebrate their love and the special day of their traditional wedding.

MAKOTI, are you the one who is going to take the crown?

For the past month, Daily Sun searched all the corners of Mzansi looking for the most authentic and dazzling makoti in our annual Mzansi Bride of the Year competition.

What an exciting journey to see how readers responded positively by entering their wedding stories through our WhatsApp number to compete for the Mzansi Bride of the Year.

And it is all the more thrilling happening within our country's busiest wedding season between summer and spring. This is when many grooms take cows from their father's kraals to start the foundation of starting families with their loved ones.

We heard the romantic stories, we heard stories where fate conspired positively and beautifully to connect lovers. We also heard stories where couples were tested by life's challenges but emerged victorious in the love stakes to end up taking the road to forever together.

By entering the competition, some brides just wanted to celebrate their love and the special day of their traditional wedding, while others wanted Daily Sun to help them with the next step to plan their white wedding.

Sunlanders, we all know that not everyone can emerge a winner in any competition. We are excited to announce the top 12 radiant brides from all over Mzansi representing our rich traditional cultures and heritage in the celebration of their love.

Some brides had wedding days fit for a queen, while some celebrated their love intimately in front of family and friends. In all their tales, it is clear that love can overcome anything.

The next phase of this competition involves only you dear reader to determine who our winners are! We seek your assistance to first help us choose the top six winning brides on our journey to finally crown the Mzansi Bride of the Year 2025 and her runner-up.

To the top 12 brides chosen to vie for this honour, we urge you to activate all your tribes, clans, families and friends to help vote for you to become our two winners.

The winning bride and her runner-up have the chance to win prizes worth R70 453. Vote for your favourite from the top 12 brides provided. Each bride has a number attached to her profile picture and she will retain that number throughout the competition.

Simply send your vote with the name of the bride and her number to the Daily Sun WhatsApp number on 062 722 7947. You can only cast your vote once for your favourite bride. Voting for the top 6 is open and closes on Sunday, 16 November at 5pm.

Here's what the bride and runner-up stand to win

  • The winning makoti will take home R15 000 in cash plus an incredible bundle of sponsored prizes.
  • The runner-up will take home R7 500 in cash to celebrate their love.
