Additionally, he said at other stations, boxes were recovered without any ballots.

FORMER ANC secretary-general and African Congress for Transformation (ACT) leader Ace Magashule plans to take the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to court over alleged irregularities in the recent national and provincial elections.

Magashule claims to possess tangible evidence, including videos where IEC officials allegedly manipulated ballot papers by marking them for the ANC.

Additionally, he said at other stations, boxes were recovered without any ballots.

"Out of 134 000 people, only 800 have voted for us, according to IEC. It cannot be true that out of 700 voting stations, we acquired one vote. Even on the VDs (voting districts) where we voted with our families, my party got nothing.

"We have sent videos to IEC in connection with incidents that occurred in Sasolburg where we found a presiding officer marking. Our members found one of the councillors in Kroonstad, also marking the ANC. We have filed more than 500 objections to the electoral commission, and IEC has acknowledged," he said.

Magashule told Daily Sun that he would join other political parties to take the electoral commission to court.

He has one seat in the provincial legislature and nothing in the national assembly.

"IEC said their lawyers will deal with our objections. Anyway, we intend to approach the court. MK and ATM have already taken the matter before the court. We want to show Mzansi the elections were rigged. We are ready for the next battle, and we're going to win it," he said.

Magashule is convinced that the recent elections were not free and far.

IEC has reassured the public that all the objections raised by political parties have been dealt with.

IEC Commissioner Mosotho Moepya said they received over 500 objections, and Magashule's objections were part of that number.
