Freddy Sonakile, DA member of the North West Legislature expressed a lack of confidence in the seventh administration.

THE new North West premier, Lazarus Mokgosi, has called on new members of his executive council not to disappoint the people of the province.

However, DA member of the North West legislature Freddy Sonakile expressed a lack of confidence in the seventh administration.

"The Exco doesn't inspire any confidence. It's a majority recycled Exco, with only two newcomers to governance. Most of those who were in charge of poor performing departments like public works, health, community safety and transport are making a comeback in other strategic departments instead of being given the boot," Sonakile told Daily Sun.

He said that departments such as health and agriculture, which require some level of technical experience or background, have been given to those who are completely clueless in the fields.

Napoleon Webster, Marikana community activist, said he believes it's a wise decision to give them more time to deliver on their promises.

Webster said the ANC must prioritise unity and work towards implementing its resolutions such as land restoration and wealth distribution. This will alleviate poverty and benefit the majority who are suffering.

"I'm concerned that coalition arrangements with parties like the DA will hinder progress on these issues. The DA's interests often contradict the ANC's revolutionary goals, and we must avoid being swayed from our core objectives. Instead, I hope the ANC will unite with organisations like the EFF and MK Party, which share our commitment to the people's struggles. Together, we can achieve meaningful change and create a better future for all," he said.

Mokgosi said he's confident that the executive council of the seventh administration is made up of men and women of high ethical standards who are committed to serve the people and understand the implications of the oath of office they are to take before assuming their official duties.

"The composition of the executive council affirms our commitment to assert gender equality and representation. It's a collective of institutional memory, fresh talents and skills required to accelerate service delivery and build on the foundation of the sixth administration," he said.

Mokgosi said the Exco is ultimately accountable to the people of the North West. "We dare not disappoint them," he said.

Madoda Sambatha is now the MEC of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management will be led by Wessels Morweng, the Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs will be led by Oageng Molapisi, while the department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism will be led by Bitsa Lenkopane

Viola Motsumi will continue in the Department of Education, Kenetswe Mosenogi will continue at the provincial Treasury, Sello Lehari is the new MEC for Health, Elizabeth Mokua is the MEC for Public Works, Sussana Dantjie will lead the Department of Social Development, while the Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation will be led by Collen Maine.
