THEY reportedly saw her leaving the house on Friday, 14 February.

By the early hours of Saturday morning, 15 February, tsotsis allegedly broke into her home to steal clothes, a blanket, a music system, appliances, sneakers, her daughter's brand-new school uniform, and even emptied her freezer of all the meat.

The stolen goods were then reportedly sold around the neighbourhood.

Minky Ntshiba from Daveyton, Ekurhuleni expressed her heartbreak upon discovering a local street vendor had cooked part of her stolen 3kg meat and served it to customers.

"She told me some guys came to her selling the meat cheaper, and she couldn't resist the bargain, so she cooked it for her customers. I only found a few pieces left, and I took them. They were still frozen."

The thieves allegedly also sold her Drip sneakers worth R1300 for just R200, All Star takkeies worth R750 for R150, her daughter's boots worth R850 for R150, and her jewellery, all of which were found with the street vendor.

Minky, furious about the situation, said that they were led to various locations by the suspect's girlfriend, who had been arrested.

However, she was frustrated that the street vendor was not charged for buying stolen goods.

They found her plasma TV, music system, and two more pairs of takkies at a house in Shangaan section, Daveyton.

Minky is appealing to the community to return her daughter's brand-new uniform, blankets, clothes, and brown and white curtains, which were in a plastic bag and are still missing.

The suspicion arose when she noticed a hole in her palisade fence and found pieces of the meat, dropped in haste, leading to a neighbour's house.

Upon informing the community, they accompanied her to confront the suspects.

Her fears were confirmed when they found a group of abonyaopes drinking wine stolen from her home.

One suspect attempted to flee by hiding in the ceiling, but his girlfriend confessed and guided them to places where the stolen goods were sold. They visited several locations, recovering only a few items.

Daveyton station commander Colonel Khumbulani Ndaba confirmed that two suspects were arrested, and the stolen goods were documented in a police evidence book.

Minky was with her boyfriend and returned on Saturday morning to find the lock broken, her fridge open, and all the meat intended for a month gone.

The two suspects appeared in the Daveyton Magistrates Court on Monday, 17 February.

Residents complained about three houses on Sihoko Street, Daveyton, which allegedly house nyaope boys involved in theft.

A frustrated resident said: "These homes are child-headed, leaving us at the mercy of these boys. When we try to handle the situation ourselves, the police arrest us."
