Sihle's mother said she last saw the 18-year-old on Friday, 3 May

THE Dumakude family in Molteno, Eastern Cape, wants answers after their daughter, Sihle was allegedly killed by her lover over the weekend.

Sihle's mother, Mhimhi said she last saw the 18-year-old on Friday, 3 May, with her boyfriend who fetched her from her home in Marikana location.

A mother's worst nightmare

She said she was shocked when she was woken by the police on Saturday, 4 May, informing her that her daughter had died.

"The police took me to Nxomfu location where the boyfriend lives. I couldn't move when I saw the forensic department vehicle, which came to take her body away," she told Daily Sun.

Mhimhi said scores of people were already on the scene.

"I asked to see her covered body and noticed her swollen head and marks all over her body as if she was beaten with a steel wire. She was only wearing her underwear," she said.

A night of terror

She said her daughter was no longer in love with the boyfriend and wanted to end things.

"On Monday, 29 April, she told me her boyfriend beat her the whole night on Sunday, 28 April. The reason for the assault was Sihle's ex-lover, who she was no longer involved with," she said.

Mhimhi said her daughter told her that even though she told her boyfriend they were no longer dating, he allegedly continued to assault her.

"She said the boyfriend said it's better to kill her so that no one gets her. After he apologised to Sihle on Friday, she gave him another chance, not knowing he would kill her," she said.

The cops step in

Police spokeswoman, Captain Namhla Mdleleni said Molteno SAPS arrested a 28-year-old man for murder.

"On Friday, 3 May, an 18-year-old victim was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend, and she died due to injuries. Motive for the assault is under investigation. A case of murder was opened, and the suspect was arrested. He's due to appear in court this week," Mdleleni said.
