COPS urge residents to be vigilant.
This as thugs allegedly robbed people at gunpoint at Kwesine Train Station in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni.
A man was robbed and killed, while another wounded in separate incidents, leaving residents fearing for their own lives.
It is alleged a group of seven armed thugs target people and rob them of their belongings.
Police spokeswoman Captain Neldah Sekgobela said in one of the recent incidents Phakamani Sibusi (26) was from work with two men and one woman on Wednesday, 21 May, and passing the train station when they were followed by seven unknown men drinking alcohol.
"Suddenly, they heard two gunshots behind them and the suspects instructed them to lie on the ground. The suspects then searched them and took their cellphones and cash. One of the victims saw Sibusi was shot and lying in a pool of blood," said Sekgobela.
She said the victim saw one of the suspects take Sibusi's wallet and cellphone.
"When the suspects were done, they told the victims to run away and not look back," said Sekgobela.

Sekgobela said police received information that another victim was shot a few metres away from the station.
"We suspect the second victim was attacked by the same group who are armed and dangerous. He was rushed to hospital, and he is still alive," she said.
Sekgopela said cases of murder and attempted murder were opened at the Ramokonopi Police Station and the matter is under investigation.
She said with winter approaching, police have identified crime spots in Katlehong, which include Siluma View, Mngadi, Monise sections, Kwesine Train Station and Mavimbela Section and urged residents to be vigilant in the morning and evening.
She said police will intensify their patrols as well as stop-and-searches in all the mentioned areas to find perpetrators and ensure they are brought to book.
One resident, Dudu Malinga from Mavimbela Section said she has been living in fear that her family could be the killers' next target at Kwesine Train Station.
"My mum uses the train to work and leaves home around 5am and returns after 7pm. Sometimes, we hear gunshots and get worried as we know people are robbed and shot by these evil thugs," she said.
Another resident, Pele Nkambule from Mngadi Section, who lives next to the station, said: "We heard people scream, but were scared to go out to investigate. The screams were followed by a series of gunshots fired in quick succession. We found out in the morning that people were shot or killed."
