TWO friends were out to chill at a local tavern on Saturday night, 7 October.

At around 1am on Sunday, 8 October, they decided to go home.

But on their way back, they were kidnapped by alleged ritual killers.

They said it was four men and a female sangoma, who wanted their body parts.

What happened

Today, Lesedi Mbanguzi (18) from Etwatwa is dead, and his friend has emotional and physical scars.

But before Lesedi died, he was able to relate to his family that his kidnappers tried to remove one of his eyes and cut one of his fingers.

But somehow, they said the kidnappers got scared and dumped them on Mocke Street.

They were found by residents on the morning of 8 October, bleeding and scared.

An ambulance was called to take them to hospital.

His friend was discharged after three days but Lesedi, who had extensive injuries, spent more than three weeks in the hospital where doctors stitched his partially cut finger back.

Survivor details the ordeal

Apparently, the ritual killers cut his finger but got scared to remove and take it.

Lesedi died on Thursday, 26 October.

He will be buried on Sunday, 11 November, at his home in Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni.

His friend went on further to relate what happened on that day.

"We were walking in the street when a bakkie suddenly stopped next to us, and four men jumped to grab us," he said.

"They bundled us at the back of a double cab bakkie and sped off. We tried to open it to get out, but it was locked from the outside."

He said they were screaming for help and scared.

"We were knocking on the windows of the bakkie, and because it was dark, nobody could hear or help us," he said.

He said they were taken to the sangoma's house in Daveyton.

The survivor said before being taken out of the bakkie, they were gagged with Sellotape, and had her hands tied.

"We were taken to a shack behind the main house, and we found ourselves surrounded by four men and the sangoma, who were armed with sjamboks and knives," he said.

"They tied our hands and gagged us so we could not make noise to alert neighbours."

He said they fought to free themselves but were sjambokked, and men were swiping them with knives.

Victim narrates the horror scene

"I was scared when one of them slightly cut me on my fingers," he said.

"I heard the sangoma saying her ancestors were directing her to Lesedi, and they wanted his body parts."

He said Lesedi was pressed down for his eye and finger to be cut.

"I saw blood coming out and his finger dangling."

He said he didn't know what scared them, and they decided to leave them.

"I heard one man saying they should dump us somewhere as it was starting to become lighter outside, and they didn't want people to notice."

The survivor said he and Lesedi were bundled in a double-cab bakkie to be dumped in the street.

Lesedi's mother, Millicent Mbanguzi, believes her son will fight for justice.

"It shows this is what these ritual killers are doing. They are roaming the streets hunting for our children," she said.

Police investigations underway

Captain Nelda Sekgobela of Ekurhuleni District police said cases of murder, kidnapping and assault were being investigated by the Daveyton police.

"Police are following all the leads that could help bust the suspects," Sekgobela said.
