ESKOM has stopped its services in Nkanini, Khayelitsha.
This after their workers were allegedly robbed and hijacking. This happened on Friday, 10 January, along Ntlazane Road around 1:40pm.
Eskom announced they won't return until their employees' safety is assured.
Eskom's statement revealed residents will face delays in fixing electricity issues. The thieves allegedly took a toolbox and cellphones.
Ward 95's councillor, Ayanda Tetani, said this isn't the first time Eskom pulled out due to crime.
"It's not just Eskom, all service providers are targeted. I don't understand these skollies, as these services help them too," Tetani said.
Resident Mzuwabantu Sikhapha expressed frustration.

"We live in darkness, relying on neighbours to warm water. We eat bread instead of cooked meals; this is not living."
Eskom said safety is crucial for their contractors.
"Unfortunately, this leads to delays in electricity restoration, meaning customers will endure longer outages. Eskom's management and security will work with SAPS and community leaders to ensure staff safety. Incidents were reported to Harare and Makhaza SAPS," Eskom's said.
Police spokesman Captain Frederick Van Wyk confirmed these incidents.
"Makhaza police are looking into a carjacking case from 10 January, around 2 PM at Walter Sisulu Street. A 39-year-old contractor was hijacked by five men. A white Nissan NP200 with tools was taken and later found in Gximfiza Crescent.
"Another incident involved a 32-year-old Eskom employee robbed at gunpoint, losing his belongings. Harare police are investigating this firearm robbery case from Ntlazane Road that happened at 1:40 PM," Van Wyk said.
