FIVE people were killed in a horrific accident between a Greyhound luxury bus and a White Volkswagen Polo hatchback at the crossing of N6 N and R702 Road on Sunday morning, 3 September, in Bloemfontein, Free State.
Three men and two women were certified dead by emergency medical officials on the scene.
Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane said the bus, which was travelling in the southern direction towards Reddersburg, ran over the Polo, travelling from east to west and failed to obey the stop sign.

"The Polo then rolled and ejected three of its occupants while the driver and the other passenger remained trapped inside. All emergency services personnel were summoned to the scene, and the five occupants of the Volkswagen Polo were declared dead. The driver of the bus was rushed to the local hospital for treatment of injuries," said Covane
Covane has confirmed a case of Culpable homicide was opened at Kagisanong Police Station in Bloemfontein.
"All the deceased are still unidentified by the police as the preliminary investigation indicated they were out on an entertainment night. The Polo was tested and is still registered as 'We Buy Cars' property," he said.
