A COMMUNITY leader and kasi people were opposed to the security officers guarding foreign nationals' shop owners in their kasi.
This was because they wanted them to leave.
But this stance made Hendrick Phabantu Zwane (50) a target.
On Thursday, 21 November, Hendrick was shot dead at 6.15pm as he walked home.
According to residents, the alleged killer, dressed in a black tracksuit, came from behind and shot him about three times at close range.

The killer then fled on foot. Hendrick died on the spot.
Heartbroken residents, who were in tears when Daily Sun arrived, suspect AboMyfriend are behind the killing of their beloved community leader.
"There are people who are benefiting from these foreign nationals shop owners, and our leader was taking the bread out of their mouth," said a resident.

Residents claim the problem started recently after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the registration of foreign nationals' shops.
"Last Wednesday, we took a petition to the office of the president in Tshwane, asking him to reconsider this registration of foreign-owned spaza shops when so many kids die from their food," said another resident.

Residents said after returning from Tshwane, they held three meetings.
At their latest meeting, on Sunday, 17 November, Hendrick told them there were people following him as he drove around.
"He said they followed him last week as he was coming from Spruitview, Ekuruleni, but managed to dodge them."
Residents suspect the alleged killer was one of the people who had been following Hendrick.
Residents claim after the shooting, the killer who ran away might have gotten into a getaway car waiting for him nearby.
Captain Nelda Sekgobela, spokeswoman for Ekurhuleni district police, confirmed that cops are investigating a murder case.
