CIT kingpin killed in shoot-out with amagata!

ONE of the five wanted cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery suspects who were gunned down by cops is believed to be a kingpin.

It's alleged that he was behind several cash-in-transit robberies around the country.

On Wednesday, 2 April, KZN cops shot dead five CIT suspects who are believed to be behind the latest CIT robbery that took place in Durban.

It's alleged that they were planning to commit yet another cash-in-transit robbery in the vicinity of the iLembe District in the northern parts of KZN, but cops caught them before they committed the crime.

On Monday, 31 March these suspects bombed the truck and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said: "The five suspected cash-in-transit robbers were wanted for a string of cash in transit robberies in KZN, including the one which happened on Monday, 31 March 2025 in KwaMashu."

He said police were conducting an intelligence-led operation after gathering information that the suspects were planning to commit yet another cash-in-transit robbery in the vicinity of the iLembe District in the northern parts of KZN.

"Police visibility in the area disturbed the suspects' mission and intelligence located the suspects in Ridgeview," he said.

He said police identified the suspects' vehicle and as they approached it, the suspects opened fire towards the cops and a shoot-out ensued.

"During the shoot-out, all five suspects were shot and fatally wounded. Four firearms were found in the possession of the suspects. The suspects were from the Gauteng province and one of them is believed to be a kingpin who was behind several cash in transit robberies around the country," said Netshiunda.

He said the operation continues in search of other suspects.
