According to investigations, her killing spree dates back to 2019.

A COP is in hot water over alleged insurance killings.

A police sergeant is arrested on allegations of fraudulently benefiting from funeral, accidental, and life policy covers from various banks and insurance providers.

The 43-year-old sergeant, who is attached to a police station in Limpopo, was arrested on Thursday, 10 October.

According to investigations, her killing spree dates back to 2019.

Her victims were known to her and were from destitute and disadvantaged backgrounds. Some were living with disabilities or mentally challenged.

She's linked to about six insurance-related murders, and evidence shows she has pocketed at least R10 million.

The on-duty sergeant was arrested following a lengthy investigation by Captain Keshi Mabunda, who was responsible for sending away the notorious killer cop, Rosemary Ndlovu.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the sergeant would take out life policy and funeral covers on the victims' behalf and would be the beneficiary.

"Following months of investigation, the investigating team obtained a warrant of arrest. The warrant was executed at the police station where she was arrested," Mathe said.

She said the sergeant will appear in the Polokwane District Court on Friday, 11 October on six counts of murder and about 17 cases of fraud.

National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola has welcomed the arrest.

He said the involvement of one of their own in such heinous crimes was a disgrace.

"As a police officer, you're entrusted with the safety and security of communities. For a police officer entrusted with such a big responsibility to be involved in such acts is absolute disgrace. She abused her powers by insuring those who trusted her," Masemola said.

He said this should send a strong warning to all involved that the long arm of the law will find and catch them.
