TWO siblings were arrested after attempting to escape from the police in Mahikeng.
In a joint effort, Mahikeng's Visible Policing members, including reservists and the local Community Police Forum, arrested the suspects for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Police spokeswoman Colonel Adéle Myburgh said officers were conducting Safer Festive Season patrols on Friday night, 29 November, when they noticed two suspiciously looking men on Station Road, Mahikeng.
"When the team approached them, the pair fled but were caught. A search revealed a 9mm Glock Pistol with five rounds of ammunition inside one of the men's bags. They couldn't explain the possession and were taken in for questioning," Myburgh said.
