THE search for missing Junior Mabandla (6) from Pienaar, Mpumalanga has ended in tragedy.

Mpumalanga police spokesman Colonel Donald Mdluli confirmed that the little boy's remains were collected from the graveyard in the area on Wednesday night, 3 July.

Mdluli said Junior's discovery was made after the community cornered an alleged suspect who was wanted for another crime.

"The alleged suspect was sought for another criminal activity. It then led to the discovery of the remains of Mabandla. The boy's remains were found on top of another person's grave in a big bag," he said.

Mdluli said that the family managed to identify Junior through the clothes he was wearing when he disappeared.

He added that police are investigating a case of murder.
