A MUM of a nine-year-old boy who is suffering from a large growth desperately seeks help for her son.
The mum from Bergville, southern KZN, is seeking assistance for her son, who has been suffering from a rare condition known as cystic hygroma since he was just three months old.
The boy, Alonde Ngwenya, has a severely swollen face, and his left ear has even moved.
Alondwe's left side of his face is larger, and the swelling has now spread to his foot, making it difficult for him to wear regular shoes.
Alondwe's mum, Ntombifuthi Khumalo, is now calling for help to find a solution to her son's medical crisis.
She said Alondwe, a grade 4 pupil, began showing symptoms of the illness when he was a baby.
"I rushed him to the hospital when he developed swelling on the neck. At first, I didn't realise that the swelling would escalate, as he showed no signs of pain," she said.
They visited several hospitals, but they kept transferring them.

"At one point, I was transferred to Greys Hospital in Pietermaritzburg and Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban. The doctors diagnosed him, but they didn't find any effective treatment for his condition," she said.
Despite their efforts, they haven't received any help, and the condition continues.
"Recently, he has been complaining about pain in his ear, which has now moved down to his neck due to the swelling. He has struggled with low self-esteem," she said.
She's pleading for someone to come forward and say they can do the operation.
"I'm appealing to anyone who can assist us. I would be very happy if my son can get help so that he can live a normal life like other kids," she said.
