He said the killers allegedly dragged the victims out of the car.

THE Theko family from Rooiboklaagte outside Acornhoek, Mpumalanga wants closure.

This after the brutal murders of their son and his lover.

Walter Theko (26) and his girlfriend Altericia Pako (25) were shot dead outside his home by unknown suspects before fleeing the scene in his green Nissan Almera Twin Cam.

Worried brother Mike Theko (34) said they were woken up by gunshots and noise at about 1.30am on Sunday, 31 December

"A crowd of panicking residents came running into the yard. They knocked vigorously on the door and told us to open the door while shouting that Walter and his lover had been shot. When we arrived at the scene, we found them lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, stomach and legs.

"Altericia had also been stabbed in the back of the head. We called the ambulance to at least save her life. But when we arrived, it was already too late. Both were pronounced dead at the scene and the police quickly activated the pathologists to take their bodies to the government mortuary," he said.

He said the killers allegedly dragged the victims out of the car and dumped them in front of his neighbour's gate before fleeing in his car.

He said police cordoned off the crime scene and picked up the scattered bullet casings.

"His missing car was later found abandoned and burning at a distance between Burlington and Cottondale. But the killers had already vanished into thin air," he said.

His grieving mum Busisiwe Theko (55) said: "The killers made off with his credit cards, cellphones and other valuables. My son was a sole breadwinner who supported the family as a loyal employee, designing and assembling aluminium frames.

"He was a people's person who had no enemies. But the heartless gang robbed the innocent souls for mahala. We want them to be brought to justice so that they can face the mighty hand of justice."

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala confirmed that police are investigating a case of double murder.

"Police received a call that an attempted murder had taken place in Rooiboklaagte Village. When they arrived at the scene, they found two bodies of an African man and an African woman.

"They were identified by family members as Walter Theko and Altrecia Pako. Both deceased had gunshot wounds and it's alleged that they were travelling in a green Nissan Almera, and it was robbed by unknown suspects. The suspects are unknown," he said.
