EMOTIONAL farewell for slain activist.
Murdered community activist and traditional healer Thato Molosankwe (48) has been laid to rest in an emotional funeral service.
Mourners, including family members, friends, church leaders, political figures and ordinary residents dressed in black, filled the Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
They gathered to remember a man widely regarded as a fearless voice against crime, corruption and poor service delivery.
The emotional funeral service was decorated with flowers and family photographs.
Daughter pays heartbreaking tribute
One of the most touching tributes came from Molosankwe's daughter, who expressed regret, love and admiration for her father.

"I was 18 years of age and I thought I had the world in my hands. I disobeyed you and did not listen to what you were saying. I never got a chance to apologise and I am very sorry for what I did," she said.
The deceased's daughter vowed to one day make him proud by completing her engineering studies and graduating.
She told mourners that, God willing, she hopes to get married one day and make her father proud.

"I hate that the people who took your life took something so precious from us. I hate the way you died. But we serve a just God. And I believe that the people who did this to you will be punished.
"You were always ready for death because you always used to say, 'Kgosigadi, I exit by this gate, someone could shoot at me at any moment.' You always knew that you were going to die in a brutal way. I pray that your soul rests in peace," she added.
Family still in shock

His older brother, Levictus Molosankwe, said the family was still struggling to come to terms with the loss.
"We are still mourning Thato. We have not been able to mourn our brother properly because we have been preparing for the funeral. But after this, we will focus on ourselves as a family," said Levictus.
Family friend Monnamme Tlotleng described Molosankwe as a courageous and caring leader whose dedication to helping others left a lasting impact on the community.
"That was a true leader. He will always be remembered for his bravery. He was caring and full of joy. He had a soup kitchen feeding kids and many others. His death really touched us," he said.
Calls for justice continue

Residents from across North West and other parts of Mzansi, including members of Operation Dudula, attended the funeral service to support the bereaved family and celebrate the life of a man many credited with standing up for the poor, vulnerable and victims of crime.
Molosankwe was laid to rest at the Mahikeng Heroes Acre alongside heroes and music legends such as Jabulani "Jabbaman" Tsambo, better known as HHP.
Molosankwe was reportedly shot 12 times at his home in Lomanyaneng Village on Wednesday, 20 May.
No arrests have been made.
