A NEWBORN baby was found dumped under the bridge at Umthambeka extension 11, Tembisa, in Ekurhuleni, on Tuesday, 26 August.
Maurice Mokaba, a community member, was shocked when he was called to the scene by a neighbour, where they had found a stillborn baby inside a plastic bag.
"I was told by my neighbour that there's a baby in a plastic bag near the bridge, and when I got there, we indeed found that saddening incident. It seemed this was done this morning because the baby hadn't been eaten by dogs yet," Maurice said.
Tembisa has been hit by a high rate of disposing of babies.
Still in Tembisa, on the same day, another foetus was found dumped in an illegal dump site in Ivory Park extension 2, next to the Lord Khanyile Library on Freedom Drive.

"As a man, this doesn't sit well with me because everybody is free to give birth and send the child for adoption. There are other options that are better than throwing a human being away. If you've failed to go to the clinic for family planning, you can always give the baby for adoption. This is murder," he said.
Both foetuses were taken by SAPS members to the police station, where a forensic services vehicle will collect them.
Captain Neldah Sekgobela confirmed the incidents.
SAPS Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Anna Sithole, condemned the actions of pregnant women and girls throwing innocent babies away.
She further appealed to women and girls to visit relevant departments to seek help if they won't be able to take care of their children and follow necessary steps for adoption or visit clinics for contraceptives to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
