THE murder case against two men linked to Pienaar tavern shooting postponed.
Bongani Nkosi (39) and Mduduzi Lubisi (45), the two men accused in the Pienaar tavern mass shooting, appeared briefly in the KaBokweni Magistrates Court in Mpumalanga on Friday, 28 March.
The case has been postponed to 8 May for further investigations.
The pair face charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery, and possession of firearms and ammunition. They were arrested in January 2025 after a shocking shooting that claimed nine lives in Pienaar.
Nkosi was denied bail in February, while Lubisi abandoned his bail application.
It's alleged that, on 11 January, victims arrived at Levisa Tavern and began firing shots into the air, prompting the tavern owners to close the establishment.
One of the suspects was reportedly present when the victims started shooting. Later, they returned to the tavern, and both suspects allegedly opened fire on the victims, who were in separate cars.
Six people died at the scene, and three more succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear. However, during his bail application, Nkosi told the court he acted in self-defence.
The tavern has since been shut down.
State prosecutor Sibusiso Ndlovu requested the postponement, citing incomplete investigations. He stated the ballistic report is still pending.
Magistrate Nandi Mhlanga postponed the case to 8 May for further investigations.
