CORRPTION is still big in Mzansi and is happening in important areas like schools, hospitals, and government offices.
Even though government is working hard to stop it, stories about bribery and people misusing their power are still common.
One recent case happened in North West, where a school leader now finds herself on the wrong side of the law.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) has arrested a 56-year-old secondary school principal in Vryburg on corruption charges.
The arrest took place on Friday, 30 May 2025, following an in-depth investigation by the Hawks' Serious Corruption Investigation Unit.
Hawks' spokesman in the North West Lieutenant-Colonel Tinyiko Mathebula said the arrest stems from allegations that the principal allegedly solicited a bribe from a prospective teacher in exchange for a contract post at the school.
