TWO cops had to go above and beyond the call of duty on Wednesday, 6 September.
This after a heavily pregnant woman, Sharleen Aweries (22), walked into Edenpark Police Station in Alberton, Ekurhuleni at about 3am to ask the police to call an ambulance as she was in labour.
Police spokeswoman, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, said an ambulance was called, but Sharleen was in a lot of pain, which left Constable Tsholofelo Hope Ramolahlwane and Constable Noloyiso Ntsenge with no option but to help her deliver her daughter, Remano Aweries.
She said: "The woman went into full labour while she awaited assistance. The baby had to be delivered with the help of the two constables. The ambulance arrived after the baby was already delivered with the help of the two female constables who went beyond their duties."
