SHEPHERD Bushiri, a self-proclaimed prophet, and his wife, Mary, are resolute in their stance.

Despite a ruling by the Chief Resident Magistrates Court in Malawi ordering their extradition to Mzansi, they remain defiant.

On Wednesday, 12 March, the court ruled that the couple must be handed over to South African authorities to face multiple charges.

However, Bushiri celebrated the decision, viewing it as a partial victory.

In a Facebook post after the ruling, the fugitive, accused of fraud and rape, wrote: "Praise the Lord! Dear brothers and sisters in Christ.

"I stand before you today with a heart full of gratitude and praise to our Almighty God. We have just received a remarkable victory in our court case, and I want to share this testimony with you."

According to Bushiri, dismissing several charges against them is a sign of vindication.

"We were facing 13 cases in court. But God, in His infinite wisdom and power, has caused the court to dismiss 10 of those cases due to lack of evidence! Only three cases remain, and we have been granted a stay of the ruling until we appeal to the High Court of Malawi," he wrote.

He called this a "tremendous victory", claiming it was not just about them but also about "advancing God's Kingdom and spreading the Gospel".

Bushiri also expressed gratitude to his supporters for their prayers and encouragement.

"We will appeal to the High Court, and we are confident that God will see us through," he wrote.

Senior Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza ordered the couple to remain in custody until their extradition.

Meanwhile, some charges, including theft, money laundering, and racketeering, were dropped due to lack of evidence.

Bushiri still faces three rape charges, along with forgery, fraud, and bail-jumping. His wife, Mary, is charged with fraud, forgery, and bail-jumping.
