MATATIELE residents in the Eastern Cape are in shock as the spate of killings that have hit the community continue to rise.
The community members are now calling for the police to be more visible and make sure that they arrest the perpetrators.
Last Monday, 10 April, Fihlekile Ramatlapeng (41) was brutally killed in her house in Mhareng location, Avondale at about 8.30pm.
Fihlekile's cousin Mapheko Khoncha told Daily Sun how her cousin's body was found on the floor with three gunshot wounds, one on the ear, chest, and one under her breast.
"The man stormed into my cousin's bedroom and shot her three times before fleeing the scene," Mapheko said.
He said there was never a fight between Fihlekile and the suspect.
Eastern Cape police spokesman Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli confirmed the incident and said they have arrested a 32-year-old man.
"On Monday, 17 April police made a breakthrough in the murder case of an Avondale woman who was fatally shot at her home last week.
Majola said the community of Matatiele still lives in fear.

A resident told the SunTeam that this was not the first murder to happen in their area.
"The killings happen in different ways but in this case, Fihlekile was killed in her home. This has been going on for some time. I can say it's been two years now," said the resident.
Another resident said in the past few months about four people were killed in their area.
Another woman was allegedly shot and killed inside her house while feeding her child.
The resident said they constantly live in fear, wondering if they will be the next victim.
