POLICE commissioner says he's proud of his achievements and has learnt a lot during his time as Tshwane's top cop.
Major-General Samuel Thine was appointed as Tshwane district police commissioner in August 2024 after acting in the role for almost three years.
Thine reflected on his first year leading the fight against crime in the capital district.
"We face challenges like contact crimes, guns, cash-in-transit heists, ATM bombings, drugs and car and truck hijackings," he said.
"We try to prevent crime in hot spot areas. We have police stations falling within the top 40 crime statistics - Mamelodi, Rietgat, Soshanguve, Sunnyside, Pretoria Central and Temba."
He said they're working to decrease crime around those areas.
"Regarding online robberies, we've arrested almost 316 suspects. We continue to arrest Facebook Marketplace suspects," he said.
Thine said committed staff and senior management keep him motivated.

"Our police are having success arresting high profile suspects and recovering drugs and guns," he said.
He stated that support from provincial and national authorities helps fight crime.
"We're fighting crime with other law enforcement agencies like security companies, Home Affairs and Tshwane Metro police," he said.
Thine said Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya supports law enforcement efforts.
He replaced Major-General Azwinndini Nengovhela in the position.
