TWO pupils aged 15 and 17 briefly appeared in the Garankuwa Children's Court on Friday, 30 August.
The pupils from Tlapa-La-Thuto Primary School in Klipgat were arrested on 14 August in connection with a recent incident involving a firearm at a school in Tshwane.
Another boy was also arrested.
The state prosecutor said all three boys were in possession of a firearm and six rounds of ammunition. She said the first boy to be arrested lied to protect his friends.
"Investigating officers are trying to establish the reason he lied about the firearm. We are also trying to ensure he was not bullied or framed as he lied about the firearm ownership," said the prosecutor.

The 15-year-old pupil was arrested on 14 August after a firearm and six rounds of ammunition were found in his possession. During his arrest, he claimed that the firearm belonged to his missing brother, but preliminary investigations revealed it had been reported stolen in Mabopane on 11 July.
When he made his second appearance in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates Court on 23 August, the matter was remanded to 19 September for Legal Aid application and enquiry.
His two accomplices are yet to join him in custody as their case has also been remanded to 19 September.
The magistrate said: "I'm remanding the matter to 19 September for Legal Aid application, enquiry and further investigations. The boys will be remanded in the custody of their guardians."
The boys' parents were present in court, but did not wait to hear the outcome as they left during proceedings and could not be found afterwards.
