KASI residents are living in fear after 11 people were killed in two separate shooting incidents in just a week.

Khayelitsha Development Forum chairman Ndithini Tyhido told Daily Sun in one of the incidents, three girls were murdered.

Speaking to the SunTeam at the scene of a shooting in Enkanini, Cape Town, which left six people dead, Tyhido said the residents were concerned as no arrests had been made.

"We are calling on anyone who has information about these killings to alert the police to ensure these killers are arrested and removed from the streets," he said.

The residents of Enkanini said they were scared as anyone could be killed at any time.

"People are being slaughtered in broad daylight and the worrying thing is that no one has been arrested for these killings," said one resident.

Another resident (55), who saw the victims minutes before the shooting, said they were still in shock.

"They had parked their car outside a shack and were drinking and playing music.

"It was a group of men and a few ladies and they looked happy just before the incident," said the resident.

Brigadier Novela Potelwa confirmed six people had died in a single shooting.

"Police arrived and found the bodies of five of the victims strewn across two scenes, which were 200 metres apart. A sixth person died on arrival at a medical facility.

"The victims are yet to be identified but were two women and four men, believed to be between the ages of 22 and 27. Murder cases are being investigated by organised crime detectives," said Potelwa.
