LIFE of a young soccer star tragically cut short.
Young Gqeberha soccer player Micah Klaasen (16) was allegedly beaten to death by unknown assailants in Fairview on Saturday night, 4 October.
Eastern Cape police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said Gqeberha police have launched an investigation.
She said: "Walmer police responded to the scene on Mimosa Road at around 11pm on Saturday night."
Van Rensburg said on arrival, police were informed that Micah was allegedly attacked by a group of six to 10 suspects.
"He died on the scene. At this stage, motive for the attack is still unknown and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

"Detectives from Walmer are appealing to community members who may have witnessed the incident or have information that could assist in the investigation to come forward," said Van Rensburg.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant-Colonel Estelle Edwards on 079 520 3256 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
Micah's friend Tylor Andrews said he did not deserve to die like that.
"Imagine going to a five-a-side soccer tournament to play soccer just to get brutally murdered. Micah's death is so disturbing. This is all because of jealousy," he said.
He said Micah was a star player for the Glenville soccer team.
"He wore nice clothes and the girls loved him. There is more to his murder. The murderers need to face the music and be arrested. They don't deserve to stay in our community," said Tylor.
